Lucy Hart has always been unloved in comparison to her sister. When she goes to live with her grandparents, she reads all of The Clock Island books and runs away to the island only to be sent home. Fast forward to the present and Lucy is a teacher's aide hoping to adopt a little boy. With no home or vehicle of her own, her chances are non-existent. Then, she is invited to contest on Clock Island with a life-changing prize - the newest Clock Island book and the right to do with it as she wishes; including selling it and keeping the money. Lucy must decide what to do if she wins but more importantly - what to do if he doesn't.
This book started a little slow for me but a few chapters in and I was hooked. This is a well-told story that makes you smile and warms your heart. It also makes you think - what would your life be like if your biggest wish came true - would it make you happier than before? The characters in this story are those you fall in love with and root for their happiness. They could be you or me. I'm so glad I took the time to read this.
