Lucy has been looking for her missing sister, Nicki, for the last year when she seemed to disappear into thin air. She obsesses over who could have taken her and what they did to her. She is so desperate for answers that she purposely puts herself in dangerous situations. When word reaches her that another missing girl has been found, she goes on live tv and begs the kidnapper to reach out to her so they can talk. When they reach out, she receives more than she bargained for.
This was a fantastic thriller with an unexpected twist and ending I was not expecting. Ryan Howard always provides perfectly angsty character backgrounds that make you feel for them and what they are going through. She manages to hold the reader's attention from beginning to end. A huge plus for this novel was that in a letter to the reader at the end of the book, the author explains that while this is a fictitious story with fictitious characters, it was influenced by seven women in Ireland who went missing in the 80s and 90s in "The Vanishing Triangle." This led me down a rabbit hole of internet searches and YouTube videos. This was a great way of bringing these women into the public eye whether it was done intentionally or not.
