A group of young immigrant women in Boston in the 1900s deals with walking the fine line of old-world parents and being American women. As members of The Saturday Evening Girls Club, Caprice, Ada, Maria, and Thea have access to indispensable advice from women who want the best for them.
Jane Healey also wrote the amazing "The Beantown Girls" and I had very high hopes for this book. While the author obviously did her research and based her book on the real society of the same name, I feel the end was a letdown. I feel as if nothing was resolved and the future of the characters is left unknown. According to the author's website, she is not writing a sequel at this time and is happy with her ending. This was a fairly quick read and if you are looking for a story that is not too angsty but still has a decent amount of friction, then you would enjoy this.
