Wiley Lark is a true crime writer working on her hardest story yet - her own. She has set herself up in a cabin in the area she grew up in. During her time there, a blizzard hits and she prepares to be snowed in. After her dog doesn't return when called, Wiley goes out to search for him and finds the frozen body of a child and later its mother. Hours later, as the three occupants of the cabin hide, someone knocks and everyone knows that they will be fighting for their lives.
This was a thriller that kept me guessing. As the story unfolded, I had several ideas on who the killer was but the clues would always steer me away. I ended up being wrong. The story was well-written and kept me intrigued from the first moment. The chapters were quick and full of action whether in the current time period or the night of the event. The narrator did a fantastic job of portraying so many different characters. She really brought the story to life. This book was recommended on my favorite bookish podcast, Currently Reading, and I am so glad I read it.
