Eve Black lost everything at the age of 12. Her family is killed by a serial killer in Cork, Ireland named The Nothing Man and she is left behind to wonder why. Raised by her grandmother, Eve grows up and obsesses on who this man could be and how best to bring him to justice. She figures the best way to reach her goal is to write a book about The Nothing Man and his victims.

Jim Doyle has an ordinary job working as a security guard when he sees someone purchasing a book entitled The Nothing Man. This book causes an untold amount of stress in Jim because he is The Nothing Man. He is the serial killer that completely evaded the authorities. He knows he must read this book to find out exactly how much Eve knows and how close he is to being caught.

The narrators did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life. It greatly added to the depth of the story to have two different narrators for the main characters. When the narrators finally interacted it was wonderful to hear them go back and forth.

I should note that I had never heard of this book until I listened to the Currently Reading podcast. This book hooked me from the very beginning. I found that it was not so loosely based on the story of the Golden State Killer but it was done extremely well. I loved reading a book that was not only from the survivor's perspective but also from the killers - this is not usually done but it was very enjoyable.
