The Mitford sisters are the talk of London but not always for the best reasons. Nancy Mitford is a bestselling author whose sisters, Diana and Unity, are fascists who befriend Adolph Hitler at the beginning of his reign as Fuhrer. As Nancy deals with the ramifications of her sisters' actions she must also determine whether or not to turn in her sister for espionage.
This was one of my most looked forward books of the year and it did not disappoint. Benedict's retelling of the fascist Mitford sisters was eye-opening. The lengths Unity went to in order to get close to Hitler were scary which makes sense with her being known as Hitler's stalker. Marie Benedict is known for her research and meticulous attention to detail. She tells not only the story from Nancy's perspective but also from Diana's, who will do anything for the man she loves, and Unity who creates a group of young Nazis in order always to have information on Hitler's whereabouts. This story was very well done and kept me interested from beginning to end.
