Marjorie Post, daughter of C.W. Post, was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, and became an integral part of the business and an heiress to a fortune. As she goes through life, she learns that while her large fortune brings great comfort and ease to her family but it can also be used for the good of those around her. As she develops her philanthropic ways, she falls in and out of love, has children, and expands her family's business to make it one of the top corporations in the world.
I had never heard of Marjorie Post nor was I aware of her life story. It was very interesting to see how she went from taking a backseat in the running of the Post Company, which would later change its name to General Foods Corp., to sitting on the Board and making the important decisions. I loved reading about her experiences as the head of various organizations and the Ambassadress to the Soviet Union prior to World War II. This book is extremely well-researched and written. Although in her life there were gaps between husbands, this book seamlessly shows the flow of time and it made for a very pleasant read.
