The Hill family bought a farm in West Virginia to flip. As they are settling into the house, Daniel finds an old truck that belonged to the previous owner, Merle, who died when he was burnt to death in a fire…in only one part of the house. The family starts seeing horrible visions, smelling sulfur, and bright orange lights in the small secret room off of the basement that houses the bottomless well. When the family realizes what it is they are dealing with they know they must do whatever it takes to free themselves from the demon in their home.
This was an excellent book to start spooky season with. There were some good scary parts as well as some great horror parts that made me grimace. The scenes where the demon comes out to play are extremely well done. If you've ever watched any shows like "A Haunting" and been creeped out by a demonic voice or the sudden haunting glow of the eye in the dark, then you will love this book. This book ends in a way I didn't see coming but loved. Roberts has some other books that I'm going to look into and hope they are as good as this one.
