In 1886, Sara Smythe found herself the lady managerette of the newest, most talked about building in New York City - The Dakota. Within months, she experiences love and loss of the biggest kind. It's now 1986 and Bailey is fresh out of rehab for alcoholism. Her cousin hired her to take over the renovations of the family-owned apartments in The Dakota. While looking through the building's archives she discovers proof that she may be part of the prestigious Camden family. As Bailey gets closer to the truth, Sara's story comes to light.
This is another fantastic novel set in New York City by Fiona Davis. The Dakota is a landmark building infamously known for the murder of John Lennon. The details of the building came through in both timelines which are one of Davis' storytelling talents - ensuring the reader is able to picture the landmark in both timelines. This was the final book by Fiona Davis that I had to read (until the release this year) and I have loved every story. Anytime, Fiona Davis publishes a novel I will be reading, reviewing, and sharing.
