Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb are friends who became bored with the trappings of their rich lives and decided that they needed an adventure. The "adventure" they chose was to kidnap and murder a young boy. They planned the minute details of their crime and then proceeded to kidnap and dispose of the body of young Bobby Franks. When the boys are arrested, they equate the murder to children experimenting on a bug and do not feel guilty for the murder. The story details their lives before, during, and after the crime.
This was a well-told story. The background was well-researched and constructed in such a way as to keep the reader interested. It was easy to tell Leopold and Loeb's distinct personalities throughout the story and the reader becomes invested. The narrator was fantastic. She properly portrayed each boy in a manner befitting the writing. She was enjoyable and easy to listen to. This book is a great addition to the true crime genre.
