Abdullah and his younger sister, Pari, are inseparable…where there is one there is the other. When Abdullah accompanies his father and his sister to visit a relative, he is unaware that this trip will forever change his life and also bring him home again. Told through interweaving stories that orbit outside of Abdullah's, we learn that we are all connected no matter how slight.
Having liked the author's other novels, I had high expectations for this one, While I loved the overarching there of being connected, I found the format of the story confusing. There were no clear distinctions where one character ended and another began. At times, I found myself having to re-read sections in order to gain my bearings. I'm hoping for more novels by Hosseini as I have fallen in love with Afghanistan and those who call it home.
